Guantanamo.- The Guantanamo women, who are members of the Cuban Women Federation, pay tribute to Celia Sánchez Manduley, known as the Heroine of the Mountains and the Plains, the most faithful aide of Fidel Castro, the sensitive woman, and inspiration of today’s generations.
On the 45nd anniversary of the death and to evoke her legacy, the Women’s Battalion, today the Defense Preparation School, held a meeting at the a monument dedicated to Celia, which is visible from various points in the Guantánamo City.
The meeting highlighted the unifying capacity of this extraordinary woman, who organized networks of peasant collaborators to support the landing of the yacht Granma and the expeditionary force, and after the triumph of revolution on January 1st she was in charge of important responsibilities at the level of the State and the Communist Party of Cuba.
The participants at the event ratified the commitment to build socialism and defend the sovereignty of the nation against any destabilizing attempt.
