With the keynote address by researcher and musician Ramón Gómez Blanco, “Cuban Music in CMKS Radio Programming,” the CMKS Radio Festival in Guantánamo kicked off. It brought together journalists, artists, and specialists to showcase some of their most impactful work and artistic creation.

More than twenty works were evaluated, which included different journalistic genres, such as interviews, reports, chronicles, commentaries, podcasts, and testimonies that highlight the work of Guantanamo residents in diverse sectors, as well as the experiences following the impact of Hurricane Oscar in the eastern municipalities.

These events were also reported in the special coverage provided by the provincial radio station’s digital editorial team and on its social media channels.

The CMKS Radio Festival also admitted in the contest radio programs such as “Cerrando el cerco,” which discusses current issues; “Con acento propio,” aimed at adolescents and young people; the drama “Entre tú y yo,” which explores the fundamental unit of the family; and the musical “Recuerdos del Ayer,” in addition to propaganda.

Special themes are also presented in the competition such as the dissemination and study of Martí’s thought, with the program “Encuentro con el Maestro,” in addition to “Reliquias,” dedicated to preserving the radio’s audio heritage.

The jury responsible for evaluating the different works is made up of journalists Xiomara Grave de Peralta Sánchez, who is the president of the jury, and Yaqueline De la Rosa Hermida; the radio operator and sound producer Alberto Baró González; the specialist Danubis Usatorres Bess; the advisor Eddy Odalis González Fernández; and the announcer Vivían Velázquez.

The CMKS Radio Festival concludes on March 12th. In the afternoon radio show “Confecciónelo,” starting at 2:00 p.m interacts with listeners’ club. An hour later, the winning entries will be awarded at the CMKS Radio Station’s theater. The entries will then compete at the provincial level on April 16th and 17th.
