Guantanamo.- The sixteenth edition of the Cacao Festival was held in the community of El Jamal, in the celebration for the 514th anniversary of Baracoa, the first Cuban village.
The party included a broad exhibition of chocolate-based products that involved various forms of production, commercial and culinary units, social workers, and cultural promoters.
More than 150 dishes competed at the event, among which the banana balls in chocolate and coconut sauce, prepared by promoter Alieky Marzo, stood out for their flavor, texture, and color.
Griselda Labañino also won an award for her pineapple and chocolate cream, followed by Diana Yenis Azaharez, who made an exquisite coconut candy.
The social workers and the Jamal Complex and Jamal Commerce Base Units stood out at the exhibition with a wide display of excellent quality dishes.
Also known as the Festival of the Four Cs: Cuba, Coconut, Cacao, and Coffee, there was no shortage of participatory games featuring local children and youth.
The Kiriba-Nengón, musical group bearer of the community traditional genre, enlivened the festivities, accompanied by local soloists and reciters.
The Cacao Festival was attended by key municipal government leaders, who praised the event’s high aesthetic and participatory level, highlighting its importance in promoting local culture and cuisine.
