Guantanamo.- Cuban Culture Week will take place in Guantánamo from October 10 to 20, celebrating significant milestones such as the centennial of Fidel Castro’s birth, the 50th anniversary of the Ministry of Culture, and the 40th anniversary of the Hermanos Saíz Association.

The event also marks the 65th anniversary of the Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba, highlighting the rich cultural heritage of the nation.

In addition to these national commemorations, local events will include the 40th anniversary of the Provincial Center for Cultural Development and the 50th anniversary of visual artist George Pérez González’s career.

The program of activities will also honor the 155th anniversary of the first invasion of Guantánamo by Máximo Gómez and the 140th anniversary of the abolition of slavery in Cuba, alongside the celebration of Intangible Cultural Heritage Day on October 17.

The José Martí Brigade of Art Instructors will celebrate its 22nd anniversary with a special program in various communities and educational institutions.

The Provincial Center for Books and Literature, in collaboration with the Regino Eladio Boti Public Library, will promote works from El Mar y la Montaña Publishing House. Additionally, the Provincial Center for Cultural Development will host the fourth edition of the “Scientific Conference on Heritage, Identity, and Cultural Processes,” while the UNEAC will organize conferences, discussions, and traditional dance events throughout the actitities on occasion of the Cuban Culture Day.
