Guantanamo.- On June 14, volunteers gathered at the “El Coliflor” organic farm to honor Major General Antonio Maceo Grajales and Commander Ernesto “Che” Guevara, marking the 181st and 98th anniversaries of their births.
This initiative involved workers and members of various political and mass organizations, who engaged in productive activities such as harvesting leeks, cucumbers, and chard.
Félix Muñoz Faure, the farm’s main producer, highlighted the importance of the support received during this event. Eulogio Sánchez Masabo, a 75-year-old member of the Veterans Association, noted that honoring Che through productive work aligns with his legacy of promoting voluntary labor in Cuba. He also emphasized the vital role of youth participation in these activities.
Enrry Sánchez Lago, an ideologue from the Young Communists League in Guantánamo, remarked that the involvement of young people signifies their commitment to the Revolution.
The event was further supported by local leaders, including Yoel Pérez García, First Secretary of the Party in Guantánamo Province, and Governor Alis Azahares Torreblanca, who led the opening of the Maceo-Che Ideological Campaign.
