Guantanamo.- The municipality of Yateras, in Guantanamo Province, obtained the condition of national vanguard of the Committees for the Defense of the Revolution (CDRs). It also received the “September 28” flag, and will host the provincial ceremony for the 66th anniversary of the mass organization on September 21.
This recognition follows Yateras’ exemplary performance in grassroots participation and commitment to the organization, which earned it national vanguard status last year. Meanwhile, Baracoa has been designated as “Outstanding,” in the province.
In conjunction with the anniversary celebrations, notable members will be honored on September 17 at 5:00 PM in the Mariana Grajales Revolution Plaza, receiving accolades such as the “For the Defense of the Homeland and Neighborhood Unity” medal. The “Premio del Barrio” will also be awarded for exceptional organizational efforts, recognizing the Romero Puente family from El Salvador, the “14 de Junio” Special Education School in Guantánamo, and Rolando Cervera Rigual, president of the “Gallo” Sports Club.
The 66th anniversary of the CDR festivities will feature various community initiatives, including voluntary blood donation drives, sanitation and beautification projects, raw material collection campaigns, and the distribution of maternity kits to families in need.
Recently, the CDRs have collaborated with non-state entities to enhance their impact, exemplified by partnerships that provide essential supplies to mothers giving birth on significant dates.
