The Provincial Delegation of Territorial Planning and Urbanism (DPOTU, in Spanish abbreviation), in Guantanamo, supervises the execution of the National Hydraulic Plan in the province, at the end of July 2023, in accordance with the provisions of its technical guidelines and microlocations of works with high socioeconomic impact.
Omara Jaca Robles, sub-delegate of the DPOTU, explains that communication between specialists in her area of expertise and those in the hydraulic sector flows with quality for the updating of construction licenses in the works belonging to the NORTH-SOUTH inter-basin transfer of water, which will benefit the development of industry, agriculture, livestock and the supply of water to the population in the Guantanamo, Manuel Tames and San Antonio del Sur municipalities, fundamentally.
Together with these tasks and in accordance with the provisions of the Territorial Planning Scheme, the construction of the Yateras dam is reviewed for its subsequent discharge to the neighborhoods surrounding as “La Alegría” demarcation, the usable certificate for the Hatibonico network was also completed in the Caimanera Municipality.
Noraida Longas Shuman, director of planning in the DPOTU recognizes the strength in the energy development of the territory in alliance with foreign investors, while they are updating the limitations and impact on the environment of each technological installation, to achieve a sustainable matrix.
She also mentions the wind farm that will be placed, specifically in the Maisí Municipality, which will contribute more than 300 megawatts to the National Electric System and reduce the consumption of fossil fuels.
