Guantánamo.- Cuba is continuing its sanitation efforts in response to the high incidence of the mosquito-borne illnesses transmitted by Aedes aegypti and Culex mosquitoes, and midges of the Aedes spp. genus.This situation is increasing the number of people affected by dengue, Oropouche, and Chikungunya viruses throughout the country. Health Minister Jose Angel Portal recently held a meeting with the top authorities of the western province of Matanzas, which is significantly affected by arboviruses.
At the meeting, the senior official stated that constant monitoring of epidemiological indicators and control actions are a priority for the country’s leadership and the Ministry of Public Health.
“This is a moment that demands unity, responsibility, and joint action. Only with everyone’s efforts can we contain transmission and protect the health of the people,” he said.
Portal also highlighted the strengthening of healthcare services, while monitoring transmission indicators continues, and action plans are being implemented based on the risk level in each health area.
