The actions to confront the U.S. blockade from the legislative system and the process to correct distortions and boost the economy this year were topics discussed at a meeting of the top leadership of the National Assembly of People’s Power (Parliament) with the presidents of the municipal assemblies of the People’s Power.
The meeting, held at the National Capitol via videoconference, also addressed the implementation of an integrated system of actions to reduce the deficit of local budgets or increase the surplus, as reported on the National TV news program.
Speaking at the meeting, Esteban Lazo Hernandez, President of the Parliament, insisted on the need to accurately assess the current situation of each territory and recalled that the closer the link with the population, the better the People’s Power will assume the functions for which it was created.
On the development of the process to correct distortions and boost the economy in 2024, the President of the Council of State also gave great importance to the analysis of the speech made by Army General Raul Castro on January 1, during the commemoration of the anniversary of the triumph of the Cuban Revolution.
Likewise, Lazo Hernandez discussed with the participants the teachings of Cuba’s National Hero, Jose Marti, when in 1895 he warned about the dangers of the lack of unity, which can destroy a country.
The meeting of the presidents of the municipal assemblies of the People’s Power with the highest leadership of the Parliament allows to guide the structures at the grassroots on the main issues on which the nation is focused.
