Directors of the Permanent Work Commissions of the National Assembly of People’s Power (ANPP) begin this Thursday a parliamentary visit to the Guantanamo Province.

Until next Saturday the 10th, the delegation will tour several municipalities in the province with the fundamental purpose of exchanging with the population, delegates, presidents of Popular Councils, among other authorities of that body, about the impact of the policies approved by the country concerning the economy, services and social care.

Educational, scientific and public health centers, food production, goods and services and construction materials, as well as several Municipal Assemblies are among the objectives of the members of the Permanent Commissions of Local Bodies, Health Care youth, childhood and women’s equality rights, Health and Sports, Industry, Construction and Energy, Agri-Food and Economic Affairs of the Cuban Parliament.

Juana Brook Cotilla, Head of the Independent Department of Relations with Local Bodies of People’s Power in Guantanamo, explained that “the objectives of the visit are to check the progress and impact of the country’s prioritized policies and programs that are materialized in the province, to evaluate compliance of agreements adopted by the ANPP for the territory, the process of correcting distortions and the reinvigoration of the economy.

Parliamentary group will also be interested in the actions of local bodies, the actions to ensure the 2024 plan and the budget, the treatment of the population’s proposals, the exercise of popular control and compliance with the directives aimed at prevention and confronting crime, corruption, illegalities and indiscipline.
