Guantánamo – The ceremony to award medals to members of the Culture Workers Union, in celebration of their day on December 14, took place this Friday in the Mariana Grajales Cuello Revolution Square in Guantánamo.
During the ceremony, 20 workers were honored with the Labor Achievement Medal, an award given to those who demonstrate extraordinary performance under the most difficult circumstances.
Among those honored were artists, journalists, creators, and administrative workers whose support was outstanding in the recovery efforts in the municipalities of Maisí, Baracoa, Imías, and San Antonio del Sur, which were severely affected by Hurricane Oscar last year.
The Internationalist Medal was also awarded to Luz Elena Daudinot Batalla and Diego Abigail Bosch, workers whose work in other regions of the world carried the essence of the Cuban Revolution and the principles of internationalism of the historic leader Fidel Castro.

Similarly, six colleagues with more than 20 years of uninterrupted service in the sector received the Raúl Gómez García Medal, the highest distinction awarded by the Culture Workers’ Union.
With the presence of Yoel Pérez García, First Secretary of the Party in the province; government officials; members of the cultural sector; and family and friends of the honorees, the moving ceremony became a tribute to the commitment, dedication, and sensitivity of those who, through culture, contribute to strengthening the identity of the Cuban people.
