The Cubans Noslen Díaz and Jorge Luis Alayo won the silver medal in the Volleyball Beach Pro Tour Challenge event 2024, in Brazil, the best performance after their professional beach volleyball debut last year.

The Cuban duet matched against the experienced home team Evandro (Oliveira Júnior) and Arthur (Diego Lanci), the winners this Sunday in two sets (21-15, 21-18).

The couple occupying 12th (5,860 points) in the FIVB world ranking was superior to the Cubans (31st place with 4,056) by a bit in attack (18-17), in service (9-6) and in defense (11-5), while in blocking they finished by a little difference (3-4) and made fewer errors (6-12).

Evandro will be 34 years old next August and Arthur will be 28. In addition to their high competitive level and the support of their followers, they had the pressure that it meant for the Cuban team to compete for the first time in the international season of a phase of the most important annual competition of beach volleyball.

Díaz and Alayo say goodbye to Recife with a great performance, achieving four victories against two defeats, competing with great rivals. They also obtained points necessary to improve in the world list, and continue their path to qualify for Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
