The Solemn Assembly, a ceremony that traditionally celebrates the Anniversary of granting the title of the Santa Catalina de Ricci Villa, was held at the founding site, located in the Plaza 24 de Febrero of the city.
During the political-cultural event, distinguised sons of the city of Guaso were recognized for their significant contributions in different spheres of the economic, social and cultural development of the territory.
The award La Fama, the Symbol of the City and the highest recognition were granted by the Municipal Assembly of People’s Power in Guantanamo to outstanding men and women in the sectors of research, medical sciences and culture.
La Fama Award:
Nuria Pérez Delgado; — Reynerio Díaz Rosales; — Ernesto Cuesta Esteris; — Paula Celerina Villalón Fernández, y — Marta Ayala Ávila.
The Shield of the City:
Rogelio Guzmán Robert, Raúl Díaz Alonso, Cándida Caridad Dranguet Rodríguez, Gladys Ivette Maynard Bermúdez, y Víctor Enrique Sánchez Silveira.
The Assembly was enlivened by local artists and guests to the 7th Edition of the Chocolate with Coffee Festival that until December 3 will animate the Guantanamo City with numerous cultural activities among which concerts by groups such as Los Van Van, Maikel Blanco y su Salsa Mayor, Buena Fé, Baila and Waldo Mendoza, president of the event.
The Solemn Assembly was broadcast live through the Facebook page of the Mi Guantánamo portal, where the programming of the cultural event is also posted.
