Guantanamo.- A module donated by the World Food Program (WFP) will begin to be distributed this November to all consumers in the Guantánamo Province, announced Norberto Roll Llamos, Monitoring Assistant of the United Nations agency.

The package consists of 1 kg of rice per person, half a kilogram of peas and one liter of oil per each family, a shipment that from the second month of the operation will be directed with the same assortments as a priority to the municipalities of Imías, San Antonio del Sur, Maisí and Baracoa, with one favorable exception: the oil will be per consumer.

According to the source, during the third month the distribution of the module will also be directed to the municipalities affected by the passage of the Oscar meteor, but this time the recipients will be the most vulnerable, children under 5 years of age, pregnant women and people over 65 years of age, according to reports from the defense groups of each territory.

As part of the donations, the WFP also grants a non-food module that has 550 kitchen kits for the inhabitants of the affected areas who lost these kits, 200 tents for immediate assistance for inhabitants who lost their homes, 15 thousand daily rations for food processing centers and the construction of temporary warehouses of 600 tons to protect the donated food. Electric generation towers will also be donated.

According to Trade officials, donations of pasta and other products are made free of charge, in addition to personal hygiene supplies that will be distributed in the territory’s warehouses.
