Guantánamo.- Guantánamo – Two lineman crews from the Basic Business Unit, a branch of the Electric Company in the municipality of Niceto Pérez, in southwestern Guantánamo province, are working diligently to ensure the restoration of electricity to all homes in the area as quickly as possible.
The region is currently recovering from Hurricane Melissa. The power line technicians are currently working in the Vilorio People’s Council area, where their commitment and dedication are crucial for accelerating the repair of poles, power lines, and other structures downed by the hurricane-force winds and rain of the Category 3 storm that made landfall on October 29.
Vidael Calunga Cutiño, director of the Basic Business Unit, explained that five of the six People’s Councils in the mountainous region are still without electricity and they just recover the service in the chief town La Yaya.
