Guantanamo.- With such an attachment to their homeland, loyalty, patriotism, and determination, a total of eight Guantanamo native athletes make up the Cuban delegation to attend the II Junior Pan American Games. The multi-sport event will be held in Asunción, Paraguay, from the 9th to the 23rd of August.

Dailis Sierra Duany will compete in athletics, Damián Gómez Limonta, in volleyball, and Erisnelki Cruz Arjona, in shooting.

Eblis Veranes Kens will represent Cuba in beach volleyball, and Diorgina Castillo Duboy in canoeing.

Also, Ángel Yuri Chacón Serrano, athletics Coach, and Carlos Charró Estrada, National Commissioner for the same sport, will attend the event in the Paraguayan capital city.

In recent days, identification plaques were placed on the homes of athletes participating in the Junior Pan American Games, an initiative promoted by National Institute of Sports, Physical Education and Recreation (INDER, in Spanish) and the Young Communists League.

The flag-raising ceremony for the Cuban delegation competing in the 2025 Junior Pan American Games, in Asunción took place recently in Havana. The delegation is made up of 231 athletes, including the eight Guantanamo native atheltes who are taking on the challenge of surpassing their teammates’ crop of successes of 29 gold medals, 19 silver medals, and 22 bronze medals earned in Cali-Valle in 2021.
