Guantánamo – The official opening ceremony of the coffee harvest at the El Salvador Municipality, in Guantanamo Province, will take place on September 20 in the Bayate settlement, an occasion for which necessary supplies, including baskets, bags, sacks, animal-drawn ploughing equipment and mechanized tools, are guaranteed.
Magalis Luque Padilla, director of the Agroforestry Enterprise of the mountainous territory, said that the main objective is to collect 440 tons of the aromatic grain, for which they have an internal force made up of 1,800 workers and beneficiaries, in addition to their families.
A novel aspect of the upcoming coffee harvesting is the reward for the outstanding coffee growers who over-fulfill the collection plan, as explicitly stated in the contract to be signed by coffee growers for a period of three years.
With the opening of a coffee collection point in the La Escondida area, a demand of those who contribute each year from the coffee fields in the El Aguacate Community became a reality.
The operation of 18 coffee processing plants is also planned to process all the coffee beans to be collected in the mountains of the El Salvador Municipality.
The business leader highlighted the work of the members of the Committee of Innovators and Improviser, who recovered a pulping machine in the town of Pibaló, which will operate manually.
