Guantanamo.- The 5th Environmental Scientific Conference for Sustainable Development, which this year is aimed at the fight against plastic pollution, will be held from June 3 to 5 in Guantánamo, under the auspices of the territorial delegation of the Ministry of Science, Technology, and Environment (Citma).

This edition of the event will highlight the urgency of addressing the global plastic waste crisis that seriously affects ecosystems. The Republic of Korea will be the guest country at the event, leading global efforts to combat this problem.

The conference will feature lectures on various scientific topics, aimed at both teachers and students from the Pre-University Vocational Institute of Exact Sciences (IPVCE) and the University of Guantánamo.

A series of short lectures will also be held in the conference hall at the Mariana Grajales Plaza de la Revolución, and a radio program will be available where science specialists will be able to share details about their event.

The last day of  the event, on June 5th, will end with the provincial Environment Day act. It will also include a meeting with scientific societies of students from the Ipvce (Pvce Institute of Technology) and a cleanup event with environmental activists in the Martí Forest area of ​​the Rubén López Sabariego People’s Council.
