Guantanamo.- Guantánamo Province has significant potential with two export hubs—the Capitán Asdrúbal López Vázquez Coffee Processing Enterprise, operating under the label Alto Serra, and the Baracoa Agroforestry and Coconut Enterprise—and the presence of leading products in the province such as coffee, cacao, charcoal, honey, elver, and coconut, among others. Efforts are underway in the province to increase exports, as it is outlined in the province’s Economic and Social Development Program.
At the close of the first quarter of the year, with approximately 370 tons of exports, the export plan for the period has been met, exceeding 72 million pesos in value. Exported services have surpassed 16.9 million pesos to date.

In the province, 37 companies and one micro, small, and medium-sized enterprise (MSME) are involved in producing goods for export, both for the domestic and international markets.
For the second half of the year, it is expected that in addition to the province’s traditional exportable items such as coffee, honey and coconut and cocoa by-products, products that are being promoted, such as tetí (marine fry) and long coconut fiber, will be added.
