Guantanamo.- Under the slogan “Fidel Between us, One Hundred Years in the People’s Memory,” the Young Communist League (UJC, in Spanish) , in the Guantánamo municipality of El Salvador, officially launched a political-ideological campaign to honor the legacy of the historical leader of the Cuban Revolution, in the centennial year of his birth.

The initiative, presented at an event attended by young people, students, and pioneers, seeks to deepen the study of Fidel Castro’s thought and work, emphasizing its relevance for new generations and its profound connection with the people. The campaign will run until August 13, 2026, the date of Fidel’s 100th birthday.

Yoanna Fuentes Frómeta, Secretary of the UJC in the territory, led the mobilization and explained that the program includes talks, meetings with historians, visits to historical sites, and community activities that reflect the values ​​of solidarity and social justice promoted by Fidel Castro.

In the municipality of El Salvador, a land with deep revolutionary roots, this campaign will focus on the daily lives of our youth, connecting them to the nation’s current challenges,” Fuentes Frómeta told the radio station.

The “Fidel Among Us” campaign seeks to recover local anecdotes and testimonies about the Fidel’s presence and influence in the region, promoting reflective dialogue in which older generations share their experiences with younger ones.

It is expected that in the coming days, educational and cultural institutions, as well as media outlets in the municipality, will join the initiative, with the goal of placing the study of Fidel Castro Ruz at the center of El Salvador’s political and social life during this commemorative period.

With this action, the youth of the El Salvador Municipality reaffirm their commitment to the historical continuity of the Revolution, guided by the ideals of the man who, one hundred years after his birth, remains a fundamental reference point for Cuba and for progressive movements worldwide.
