Alexis Plutín Castellanos, administrator of the Alfonso Escalante Cooperative Production Unit (UBPC), pertaining to the municipality of El Salvador, was elected Guantánamo´s first delegate to the 12th Congress of the Cuban Workers´ Federation.
Due to the relevant results of his management, the aforementioned productive form deserved twice the condition of National Vanguard in the sector, and for this reason it was designated the selection of the four direct delegates who will represent the eastern province in the great union meeting to be held in April 2025, in Havana.
Plutín Castellanos, member of the provincial Union of Sugar Workers, stressed that his election implies a commitment to the workers of the UBPC, who are leading days of big efforts in the community of Costa Rica to fulfill with the sugar cane planting and vegetables, despite the limitations of material resources.
The Alfonso Escalante UBPC was recognized in 2023 for its careful attention to sugarcane fields, an activity for which it distributed two million pesos as profits among its 464 workers, of which 70 used animal traction to replace motorized machines, due to the fuel shortage.
