Guantanamo – The meetings that have been held since last April in the delegations of the Cuban Women Federation (FMC, in Spanish), in the Manuel Tames Municipality, in Guantanamo Province, as part of the political process Congress returns to the grass-root committee, become spaces to articulate the potential of the women to perfect the work of an essential organization in the development of Cuban society.
Irenia Barrientos Sánchez, secretary of the FMC in this municipality, added that they have already held 177 of the more than 200 meetings scheduled until August 23.
She pointed out that these meetings have the purpose of promoting knowledge among the FMC’s members of the agreements emanating from the XI Congress and in correspondence they can give continuity to the improvement of the work of the Cuban Women Federation.
She emphasized that as a result of this process, the FMC is implementing strategies to increase the number of organoponic gardens with the purpose of increasing the contributions of women to the food of the people.
She said that as a priority is given to attention to demographic dynamics, adolescent fertility, families in vulnerable conditions, as well as the available workforce to correspond to the municipality’s development strategy.
During these days, activities are also carried out in grassroots organizations on occasion of the new anniversary of the FMC with work related to food production, recognition of the membership and outstanding workers, meetings with women leaders, and the presentation of the August 23 distinction.
