Guantanamo.- The tribute to National Hero José Martí on the 173rd anniversary of his birth distinguished the closing ceremony of the thirty-sixth edition of the Guantánamo-Baracoa Theater Crusade, held in the central park that bears his name in this city. There, three new young creators also received their membership cards as members of the Hermanos Saíz Association (AHS).
Likewise, during the event, the Provincial Council of Performing Arts and the Directorate of Culture of the same institution in the territory recognized the local branch of the AHS, an organization of young artistic vanguard to which this edition of the crusade is also dedicated in celebration of its 40th anniversary.
The honor was received by its president, Dairon Martínez Tejeda. The music of Fidel Díaz, Luis Ariel (El Nativo), and Leo Ramírez enlivened the act, a prelude to the Troubadour Route, in homage to the late singer-songwriter Eduardo Sosa.
This event, taking place for the first time within the context of the Crusade of Theater, inspired the song “El arte que vuela” (The Art That Flies) in its 36th edition, performed by its composer Claudio Casal during this event.
The Cuban guest artists include Teatro La Familia, Figurarte, Andante, Campanadas, and Adentro, which share stage with local artists Guiñol Guantánamo, La Barca, and the Carpandilla Circus Company, and Emilio Vizcaíno Ávila, director of this artistic journey, delivered the keynote address during the act.
This thirty-sixth edition of the Theatrical Crusade also highlights the 65th anniversary of UNEAC, and of Words to the Intellectuals, as well as the presence of the indo-Cuban heritage in the Guantanamo culture.
