Celebrating its 30th anniversary of founding, the Guantanamo Danza Fragmentada company presents its new season from October 4 to 8, dedicated to the 45 years of artistic life of its director and founder Ladislao Navarro Tomasén.

This time, six works by five different choreographers are premiered: The Meeting, by José Ángel Carret Morejón (Canadá); Extractos y Rhapsody, by Jhon Midolo (Spain); Apocalipsis, by J. Calvin Jarrel (USA) and TID and Monte Verde, by Guantanamo residents Ismael Cabal Suárez and Guilberto Félix Díaz (Guilli), respectively.

During the season – Navarro Tomasen said, at a press conference – various workshops on folklore and peasant dances, among others, are held by the renowned teacher César Reinier Simón Reyes,  which are carried out at the company’s studio with the participation of students of schools of arts, amateurs artists, as well as professional dancers and musicians.

The premieres will always take place at the Guaso Theater, although its staging schedule has been subject to changes due to the electrical energy situation that the country is going through: for this Friday and Sunday the presentations are expected to be at 5:00 pm and on Saturday at 8:30 p.m.

Also at the season’s press conference were presented the graduate paper of dancer Yohanet Romero González, which, supported by the previous work of Ladislao himself, is a biography of the group from its beginnings to the present; and the newsletter Metáforas en Movimiento, with information about the works to be presented, by journalist Victor Hugo Purón Fonseca, materials available on the company’s Facebook page.

Since its foundation, Danza Fragmentada Company has been a space for the instruction of dancers lacking academic training and the growth of others trained in artistic teaching, who have managed to venture into different techniques and styles.
