Prior to the Provincial Assembly of the Cuban Writers and Artists Association (UNEAC) , in Guantanamo Province,  the leadership of the organization visited the Playita de Cajobabo National Monument, in Imías Municipality, where they honored the Apostle José Martí and Generalísimo Máximo Gómez on occasion of the 129th anniversary of their landing at this site on April 11, 1895.

The president of (UNEAC) Martha Bonet highlighted the significance of beginning with this tribute to both patriots and from the Guantanamo Province, the assembly process in the country of the 10th Congress of this organization, which also honor the memory of  the historian and ethnologist Fernando Ortíz, who said, “Culture is the Homeland.”

As part of this tour in the  Cajobabo Town, they also visited the 11 de Abril Municipal Museum, once the home of Salustiano Leyva, who at the age of 11, he met José Martí and the members of the Mano de Valientes expedition. Then, in that place,  the journalist  Magda Resik presented the book: We must believe in Cuba, a collection of interviews she wrote with PhD.Eusebio Leal Spengler, and it was published by the Ediciones Boloña label of the Office of the Historian of the City of Havana .

During this day, journalist Magda Resik donated several copies of the book to the 11 de Abril Museum, as well as to the Imías Municipal Library, where  the president of UNEAC, Martha Bonet, also gave a selection of titles from Ediciones Unión label that belongs to this cultural organization that promotes the literary production of authors from all over the country.

Likewise, the 11 de Abril Museum became a space for the presentation of the Guantanamera lutenist virtuoso Lisania González Rojas and the emblematic group Nengón Imías, which in 2024 celebrates 70 years of its foundation. it was a moment to highlight this iconic music-dance tradition from this eastern region.
