Guantánamo.- Edel Aldana Villar, technical director of the Basic Electric Organization (OBE), reported on the operation of the Fuel Oil Distributed Generation Plant No. 2, located in the “Los Güiros” area, south of the city of Guantánamo, where a fire broke out in the station’s control panel around noon on Tuesday.

Top officials from the Party, the Government, and the Ministry of the Interior arrived at the scene and confirmed that the fire was quickly extinguished by the fire department and the unit’s own firefighting brigade.

Engineer Aldana Villar stated that “the incident caused the station to be out of service for approximately three hours, before gradually restarting. Fuel Oil Plant No. 2 is currently generating a stable 17 MW, with its 12 generating engines operating.”
