Guantanamo.- Juana Eglis Fernández Louit, General Secretary of the Cuban Workers’ Federation (CTC) in the province of Guantánamo, met with workers from the Ministry of Labor and Social Security (MTSS) in Caimanera.

During the meeting, the highest representative of Guantanamo’s labor movement emphasized the importance of the upcoming processes, in which the Municipal Labor Directorate plays a key social role.

“During the September-October-November quarter, consultation meetings will be held throughout the country for the draft Labor Code Bill. Once it has been enriched with contributions from labor collectives, it will be submitted to the National Assembly of People’s Power for approval.”

According to Juana Eglis Fernández Louit, this is the most important political process for the labor movement in 2025, in which its participation in the destiny of the nation is reaffirmed.

The meeting also addressed the increase in pensions for those receiving up to four thousand pesos, due to age, disability, and the death of a spouse. This process will benefit more than a thousand people in Caimanera, according to data provided by Antia Duany Sarmiento, municipal director of the Ministry of Labor and Social Security in the marine town.

At the end of the meeting, the Provincial Secretary of the CTC congratulated the Caimanera workers, who had also contributed their labor to the municipality being chosen as the venue for the provincial event on July 26. She also invited them to attend the provincial event on Wednesday, July 23, at seven in the morning, in the municipality’s multipurpose plaza.
