The last ordinary session of the year of the Provincial Council of the Government Assembly of People’s Power was focused on how to ensure that all municipalities of Guantanamo Province end of the year with better results in key demands of the population such as hiring, marketing and food production, the completion of housing as well as compliance with the indicators of the economy and budget plan.
Chaired by Governor Alis Azahares Torreblanca, the meeting also highlighted the need to carry out the activities planned to commemorate the 65th anniversary of the Triumph of the Cuban Revolution.
Azahares Torreblanca pointed out that it will be necessary to fulfill decisive tasks such as the coffee harvest and the good start of the sugar harvest; “the rapid and safe distribution of the products included in the basic basket, and above all increase the levels of food production, so that the people can access to more offers and have a more satisfied end of the year.”
The Governor also stressed that in Guantanamo, it is also a priority the compliance with the accumulated housing as well as the expected net sales in the ten municipalities, which may be met, as well as other economic indicators of the economy plan.
It is urgent in the province to reduce the high number of fines to be collected, increase diversification of the production of the food industry and local construction materials, increase the quality of the services provided to the population and care for vulnerable communities.
The members of the Provincial Council also valued the importance of the materialization of social communication strategies in promoting Government management, and approved the plan of topics, activities and objectives of this body for the year 2024.
