Guantanamo is committed to further development and new challenges Guantanamo.- The year 2023 was a very difficult year in the economic and social order for locals from Guantanamo – as from all Cuba – a period in which the US blocakade against Cuba was evidently intensified; however, the decision of the people to face all adversities and continue advancing was demonstrated.

The economy of this province is based on agricultural and forestry production fundamentally, which is directly linked to the delivery of products to the population. It also highlights the contribution to the popular movement of  raw material recovering , very important for industries and the benefits of the population in general.

The traditional products of this eastern Cuban territory are salt, sugar, coffee, cocoa and coconut, exportable items that contribute to the local and national economy.

Likewise, it is the intention for 2024 to continue consolidating progress in these and other areas, as well as in programs prioritized by the Cuban government, such as housing construction and the assistance to the inhabitants of vulnerable communities to improve their quality of life.
