Guantanamo.- Finding alternatives to mitigate the effects of drought affecting Guantanamo Province, the systematic meeting to evaluate the province’s economic and social vitality was held with the participation of the leadership of the Party and the provincial government.

At the meeting, the top authorities of the province along with representatives of the business community, organizations, and via audio conference with municipal authorities, indicated that the water supply would be increased through tanker trucks and, according to fuel availability, to communities and food-producing centers.

However, due to the lack of this essential liquid, it was agreed to implement alternatives that would facilitate the immediate repair of breakdowns in many pumping stations and the improving of distribution networks, the latter being vital work in serving the population.

The systematic monitoring of the standardized family basket revealed that the warehouses are stocked with the two pounds of rice as is proper for April, and three for May, plus one more pound of sugar and a package of spaghetti per capita.

The increasing failure to deliver milk by the Iván Rodríguez Livestock Company in the municipality of Niceto Pérez was also an issue evaluated by those responsible for vital services to the population. A rigorous assessment of the causes and conditions related to the unstable delivery of food to children under two to six years of age was also called for.
