Guantanamo.- Members of the Guantánamo Military Region are marking April 21, the 65th anniversary of the founding of the Eastern Army, reaffirming their unwavering commitment to prioritizing the defense of the homeland, united with the people and the Party, and inspired by the legacy of Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro Ruz in the year of his centenary.
Colonel Raciel Teruel Batista, Chief of Staff, emphasized the institution’s trajectory since its creation and the example set by its heroes and martyrs, which represent a strong commitment in the face of current challenges and threats.
He also highlighted that the dedicated fulfillment of assigned missions and tasks by officers and civilian workers in Guantánamo reflects the strength and value of the men and women of this historic territory.
The Chief of Staff added that the anniversary is being honored through the strengthening of structures and grassroots organizations, the continued implementation of measures to ensure defense capabilities and food sovereignty, and the promotion of vocational training among younger generations, particularly through the Camilo Cienfuegos Military School.
Finally, the FAR leader in Guantánamo recognized the commendable performance of local combatants across all areas, from maintaining military equipment and improving living and working conditions to preparing reserve forces through practical actions in defense zones, the main setting for consolidating the strategy of a people’s war.
