The Pedro A. Pérez Polyfunctional Plaza hosted the Razones gala, as part of activities of the 27th La Guantanamera Festival, an event that brought together all art expressions of the region in which Haiti was the guest country this year

At the gala, Francisco Díaz Díaz, president of the association of Haitians and descendants in the province, received from the hands of Mr. Castro Arboite, representative of the embassy of the Republic of Haiti in Cuba, the distinctive plaque with the signature of Her Excellency Ambassador Reginé Lamur, which says:

“The Embassy of Haiti in Cuba grants this plaque of Recognition to the Haitian Community and their descendants in Guantanamo for outstanding work in preserving, promoting and disseminating the rich cultural heritage and deep-rooted Haitian traditions”

The diplomat from the sister Caribbean nation, who is visiting the eastern region for the first time, held several exchanges with this community of Haitian descendants in the territory, who expressed the interest of his country’s embassy in supporting the projects of the descendants. to strengthen their identity, within their possibilities.

The gala, in which Guantanamo Province was declared as the capital of Haitian culture in Cuba, was performed by the companies Ballet Folklorico Babul and Danza Fragmentada, the Changüi Guantánamo group, the troubadour Josué Oliva, the soloist Virginia Orihuela, the reciters Eldys Cuba and Benito Heredia, students from the Alfredo Velázquez Territorial Dance School and the presenter Sandra Garrido, all under the direction of Lázaro Macpherson Willians.
