Guantanamo.- The Guantanamo duo of Eblis Veranes and Damián Gómez won the bronze medal in the first tournament of the North, Central America, and the Caribbean (NORCECA) beach volleyball circuit in 2025.
The Guaso’s men easily climbed the podium by defeating the Puerto Rican duo of Arnaldo Torres and Cristian Encarnación in the bronze medal match by a score of 2-0 (21-10 and 21-9), thus improving on their ninth-place finish last year.
Gómez – Veranes, the second Cuban dupla in the discipline, fell in the semifinals to the island’s title pair, made up of Noslen Díaz from Artemisa and Jorge Luis Alayo from Villa Clara, who won gold for the first time against Nicaraguans Rubén Mora and Dany López, with absolute superiority in consecutive sets of 21-10 and 21-12.
