Guantánamo.- The education sector in Guantánamo, faithful to its combative tradition and transformative spirit, celebrates July 26th, National Rebellion Day, with the development of a broad program of actions to honor this historic date.

‎An achievement of great social impact is the prompt opening of four new children’s homes, a form of early childhood education, ‎for a total of 43 of its kind in the province, benefiting the children of approximately 1,000 working mothers, fathers, or guardians.

Also noteworthy is the refurbishment of the auditorium at the “14 de Junio” Special School, a project to contribute to improving specialized care for students with hearing impairments and achieving their full inclusion in society, an essential principle of the Revolution rooted in that historic July 26, 1953.

The education sector in Guantánamo is also making progress in the restoration of the primary school located in the municipality of San Antonio del Sur, which was seriously affected by Hurricane Oscar.

The repair and reconstruction work at this school seeks to return a safe and functional school environment to the students and teachers of this mountainous community as soon as possible, even in the difficult economic conditions that Cuba is facing.
