Guantanamo – Seedbed preparation and sowing of the cold season is advancing in the Guantánamo Province, as the farmers of the eastern territory intend to fulfill the commitments in the preparation of land, sowing and marketing  to mark the 13th Congress of the National Association of Small Farmers (ANAP).

Justo Perez Torreblanca, member of the Provincial Bureau of the Association of Small Farmers explains that for this purpose,  they have visited cooperatives and farmers and the board of directors has given an account to the farmers as activities achieved prior to the congress.

“We continue working on contracts to continue improving the attention of enterprises that have working relationships with cooperatives, and  checking compliance with the contracting of crops that  is one of the main tasks carried out by the ANAP in the province,” he said.

The purchase of crops from peasants by the commercial unit of agricultural products in the established time, subject of analysis in the cooperatives of the territory where the needs and demand of the population are taken into account, Perez Torreblanca explained.

Guantanamo farmers are currently developing several initiatives such as to organize teams of farmers’ oxen plowing and tractor platoons, in the preparation of the  land for cultivation to meet the goals, prior to the ANAP’s Congress
