Delays in the banking process and non-payment to coffee and forest producers were realities examined by the provincial structures of the Party and the Government of Guantanamo during the comprehensive visit made to the six mountain communities of the Yateras Municipality.
In that sense, it emerged that there is no progress in the dissemination of the use of the QR code and the implementation of the extra cashier’s service, which creates inconvenience for those who have the possibility of using electronic fee collection system.
During the visit, chaired by Alis Azahares Torreblanca, Provincial Governor, and Zenia Lores Méndez, member of the Party Bureau at the same time, it was reported that the debt owed to coffee and forestry producers amounts to 8.3 million pesos.
Faced with this problem, Azahares Torreblanca called to “resolve this situation immediately, because nothing justifies not paying workers what they have earned with their work.”
The top government leader, accompanied by the political authorities and the Municipal People’s Power of Yateras, also visited areas used for food production, including the land dedicated to various crops in the Virginia Café Community, where she spoke with the farmer Osmel Cardona, who harvests beans and corn on land that was idle.
She also visited one of the six ponds available in the municipality to increase fish production, the self-consumption farm of the base unit of the Provincial Construction Enterprise, (EPCONS, in Spanish abbreviation), which provides food to the entity’s workers and the community, and observed in the hills of La Clarita areas dedicated to the cultivation of organic potatoes, a crop that in that region can reach a yield of 14 tons per hectare.
This type of visit focused on seeking solutions to local problems and strengthening municipal government management to verify the process of correcting distortions and reinvigorating the economy, in which the use of local potential in territorial development and the quality of services and life of the population has a fundamental weight .
