The Guerrilleros del Guaso team, from Guantanamo, won first place by province in the 61st edition of the Playa Giron National Boxing Championship, a five-day event held at the Rafael Castiello Renda Multipurpose Hall, located in the Sports City of the eastern territory.
The Guantanamo team dominated with 38 units, Sancti Spiritus team second with 31 points and Cienfuegos team third with 25 points.

Most Technical: Double Olympic Champion Arlen Lopez (Guantanamo, 80 kilograms).

The awards were headed by Yoel Perez Garcia, first secretary of the Communist Party in Guantanamo province; Alberto Puig de La Barca, president of the Cuban Boxing Federation, and Richard Cruz Alcedo, Sports director in the eastern territory.
