Through adequate advice to local government bodies and society actors, the Disaster Risk Reduction Management Centers in the Guantanamo Province contribute to better face emergency response, undertakes disaster reduction measures, forecasts and monitors natural and technological risks, with a view to promoting perception of the risks among residents of each locality.
This work gains importance because Guantánamo Province is classified as a multi-risk territory in terms of natural phenomena and vulnerabilities inherent to population settlements.
Through joint work with the territorial delegation of the Ministry of Science, Technology and Environment, the results of Hazard, Vulnerability and Risk Studies (PVR) are implemented, which constitute valuable tools for the adoption of measures in each case by local governments.
