The Cuban easternmost province is ready for the May Day parade. In a day of joy and commitment, the celebration will become in Guantanamo, that not even the complex scenario facing the island can diminish the people’s conviction and motivation under the motto “To the Homeland, hands and heart.”
Along five blocks long people will rise their voice for Unity, Continuity, Commitment, Dignity and Victory, the nearly 128,000 Guantanamo workers will parade together with students of various levels of education through the historic Mariana Grajales Coello Revolution Square, located in this city, starting at 7:30 AM.
As it is traditional, during the day the labor movement mobilizes each year to carry out a group of activities and initiatives as exchanges between young and experienced union leaders, recognition of workers with a meritorious career, as well as voluntary work days to support the production of food and the contribution to the blood donation program, among others.
The General Secretary of the CTC, Ulises Guilarte, recently reported the reformulation of the activities to celebrate May Day in Cuba, due to the economic situation of the country and in particular to the limitations with the insurance of fuel. In this way, its commemoration is maintained in conditions of rationality and austerity.
The activities on May Day also includes acts in communities, bateyes, neighborhoods, labor and student centers, mobilizing the popular initiative for creating posters and models that adorn these scenarios and express the majority support of the people for the Revolution.
On Monday, May 1st, parades or crowded acts will take place simultaneously, according to the decision of each territory, in all the municipalities of the country, including the Havana City the capital of the largest of the Antilles.
