Guaso River in Guantanamo
Guaso River in Guantanamo

Guantanamo.- The Science, Technology and Environment Delegation in Guantanamo, as the governing body of policies to protect natural resources, is committed to reducing the polluting load on the environment, through joint efforts with the entities.

With this objective, the water quality studies of the Bano and Guaso rivers were presented as  a proposal for the Environmental Planning of the Guantanamo-Guaso Basin and the technical sections of the National Institute of Hydraulic Resources, aimed at projects around the infrastructure to improve the availability of this resource.

Likewise, the work of the Provincial Commission for the Decontamination of the Bay is improved and the use of systems to treat waste in the entities is verified, in addition to the investments aimed at their maintenance.

Also in Guantanamo, the system for the control, recovery and final destination of hazardous waste is being improved, with emphasis on used oils and petroleum sludge, which can be used through the circular economy in other activities at the local and national level.
