The provincial act took place in the Cristina Pérez Pérez Mother’s Home, located in the provincial capital, with the participation of specialists from the Mother and Child Care Program, members of the Culture sector and social and mass organizations, who recognized the work of this institution which addresses its goals achieving large increases in breastfeeding rates.

Dailén Michel Fiol, director of the Mother’s Home that admits about a hundred pregnant women, stressed that exclusive breastfeeding protects babies from common infectious diseases and boosts children’s immune systems, providing the key nutrients.

As part of the World Day for Exclusive Breastfeeding, from August 1 until the 7th, the health promoters visit the communities of the territory to encourage the female donors of human milk, who facilitate voluntarily the milk to the five collection centers and the milk bank of the Provincial Hospital Doctor Agostinho Neto.
