Five media professionals from the Guantanamo Province will be awarded with the commemorative medal for the 60th Anniversary of the Cuban Association of Journalists (UPEC, in Spanish) on July 15, in a ceremony to celebrate the six decades of the social and professional organization.

The reporters Martha Reyes Noa, of the Provincial Radio Station CMKS; the retirees of the Cuban News Agency Leonel Eduardo Pérez Moya, and Pedro Roberto Torres Aranda, of Radio Bahía Station, in Caimanera, as well as the photojournalist, Reunel Ricardo Gómez Ramírez, and the designer, José Antonio Ocaña Suárez, both from the weekly Newspaper Venceremos.

Taimí Pérez Fernández, president of the UPEC in this eastern territory, congratulated the professionals who will be honored for the relevant anniversary and highlighted their respective career paths, characterized by dedication to work, human values, journalistic ethics and historical commitment to the principles of the revolution.

The UPEC is an organization close to holding its XI Congress, in November of this year. It was created on July 15, 1963, as a result of the association of press professionals until then grouped in the National Association of Journalists, the Association of Havana reporters and the Cuban Press Association.
