Federated guantanameras celebrate 64th anniversary of their organizationGuantanamo.-The 64th anniversary of the Federation of Cuban Women (FMC) will be celebrated in Guantanamo province with an extensive program of activities during  August in the blocks and delegations of the women’s organization, and in the People’s Councils and rural communities of the territory.

Alexandra Cobas Sanchez, member of the secretariat that attend the ideological sphere, informed that the commemorative actions for August 23rd, date of creation of the organization, are celebrated in a scenario marked by the continuous struggle for gender equality, the women empowerment and the defense of their rights in Cuban society.

Among the actions are volunteer work days linked to food production, visits to Olympic Families and exchanges in the Maternal Homes of Guantanamo municipalities: El Salvador, Baracoa, Imias, Maisi, as part of the World Breastfeeding Day.

Cobas Sanchez said that the presentation of the book ¨Mujeres en Revolución. Coordenadas para un feminismo cubano socialista¨, a text published by Editorial Ocean Sur that offers an approach to feminism from the plural vision of a collective of authors.

There will also be the declaration of Patios 64th Anniversary, an intergenerational meeting, visits to Residential Nursing Homes, as well as the exhibition of community projects and creative women.

The leader emphasized that the day will be the occasion for the presentation of the August 23rd Distinction to outstanding women in the Mariana Grajales Cuello Square, and to develop the Dialogues for Families Free of Violence, as well as recreational activities and recognition in the more than 3,100 delegations and blocks.

During the day to celebrate 64 years of commitment, solidarity and tireless work for the advancement of women in all areas of society, there will be a tribute to the legacy of the eternal president of the FMC, Vilma Espín Guillois, and Commander in Chief Fidel Castro Ruz on his 98th birthday, to extol his revolutionary thought of equality and social justice.
