Guantanamo.- Yoel Pérez García, First Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee of Guantánamo, along with Alis Azahares Torreblanca, Governor of the province, conducted a video conference with municipal authorities across the region to review the availability of food products for the traditional agricultural and industrial fair scheduled for this Saturday in Guantánamo’s capital city.
During Friday’s routine meeting on operational and socioeconomic vitality, Pérez García underscored the critical importance of prioritizing the effective management of this commercial event, which has been held without interruption over the past two years.
Representatives from the municipalities of El Salvador, Yateras, Maisí, Niceto Pérez, San Antonio del Sur, and Guantánamo confirmed their commitment to supplying the fair with a diverse range of products, including cassava, plantains, sweet potatoes, charcoal, and corn flour, among others.
In this context, Pérez García instructed the implementation of measures to facilitate the harvesting and transportation of abundant crops of sweet potatoes, plantains, and fruits from the mountainous communities of Santa Catalina and La Tagua in the municipality of Manuel Tames—crops currently at risk of spoilage or diversion to other provinces.
Additionally, he called on companies specializing in meat, fisheries, and dairy to explore opportunities to increase their industrial product offerings for Saturday’s event. He also emphasized the necessity of strengthening the Inspection Corps’ efforts, supported by the Ministry of the Interior’s forces, to ensure all state and private participants comply with the requirement to utilize electronic payment methods and accept transfers.
