Guantanamo.- The celebration of the 72nd anniversary of the assaults on the Moncada and Carlos Manuel de Céspedes barracks once again demonstrated the revolutionary spirit of the people of Guantánamo, who showed the unity, steadfastness, and commitment of a people who belong to the Homeland or Death.
The new commemoration of the national holiday was led by Yoel Pérez García, First Secretary of the Party in the province of Guantánamo, and took place at the Pedro Agustín Pérez Multipurpose Plaza, where amid joy, music, and dancing, and the repetitive chorus of the song that says “The 26th is the happiest day in our History,” became a reality.
The municipal commemoration in Guantánamo for the National Day of Rebellion honored a group of organizations whose results are evident in their effort and dedication, such as the National Institute of the Defense of Culture (INDER), the Ministry of Culture, the Ministry of Justice, the Fial Guantánamo Brewery and Agroindustrial Companies, the Tax Administration Office, the Combatants’ Assistance Program, the Education Department, the Food Industry Unit (UEB), the Processing Center, the Holguín Pizzeria, the MSME Veglobal, and the Enrique Campos CCS.
Similarly, recognition was given to the commendable performance of organizations such as the CDR (Centers of Defense for the Defense of Combatants), the San Justo People’s Council, and the Permanent Commission on Economic Affairs and Services of the Municipal Assembly of People’s Power in Guantánamo.
The celebration in the main municipality of Guantánamo that marked the 72nd anniversary of the Glorious Moncada Battle, also included recognition for outstanding figures in the fulfillment of their missions and tasks.
This distinction was awarded to Moraima Ferrer Blas, President of the San Justo People’s Council; Paula Cisneros Robles, Municipal Director of Sports; and Niurka Iñurtieta Garzón, President of the Economic Affairs and Services Commission of the governing body.
In her keynote speech, Albis López Ramírez, First Secretary of the Party in the municipality of Guantánamo, commemorated the heroic feat of Moncada Battle, the unwavering example of our heroes and martyrs, and the guiding ideas of José Martí and Fidel Castro.
She also referred to the commitment of the people of Guantánamo to remain faithful to the legacy of the Homeland and to continue the social process we are building.
