Guantánamo.- Two-time Olympic champion Arlen Lopez defeated Mexican Paul Valenzuela in Madrid in a 10-round professional bout in the light heavyweight division, retaining the World Boxing Association (WBA) Latin American continental title.

The fighter, now undefeated in five such outings, secured a unanimous 3-0 decision at Madrid’s Teatro Las Vegas, despite the greater experience of his opponent, who had a record of 28 wins (five KOs), 12 losses, and a draw before the final whistle.

Votes of 100-90, 98-92 and 97-93 showed the dominance of Lopez, Olympic champion in Rio de Janeiro 2016 and Tokyo 2020, as well as tanned in Paris 2024, during the fight, which was included in the evening convened in the context of the WBA European Convention, reported the digital edition of the sports publication JIT.
