Two royal palms will grow firm as a symbol of loyalty and Cuban traditions at the entrance to the Marti’s Forest “April 25”, in the Rubén López Sabariego district of the Guantanamo City, planted by the José Martí Cultural Society and other representatives of the town.
Noralis Palomo Díaz, president of the organization in the province, declared that the idea recalls the speech of the With all, and for the good of all”, delivered in Tampa, United States, in 1881, in his aspiration to bring justice as tall as the palms.
She said that, to plant the royal palms, the Coordinating Group of Martí Forests and Gardens in the territory, summoned student and labor groups from the community, the Young Communist League, the Martí Youth Movement, and combatants, along with cadres of the party and government present in the area that is in the process of restoration, as a tribute to the National Hero of Cuba, Fidel and Armando Hart.
Noralis Palomo concluded that the forest of the provincial capital, inaugurated in 1995, is a sociocultural and recreational space, aimed at the protection of the environment and to know the Marti’s descriptions in the Campaign Diary about the landscape and the 13 camps on his route from Cajobabo Beach to Vuelta Corta.
These firsts were completed by data provided by the architect Luis Palmero, in charge of the Restoration Project of the Marti Fores 25 de Abril t in Guantanamo, by announcing that next year the rehabilitation of the original heritage of the forest will incorporate exhibition halls, administrative offices and other spaces, contributing its natural beauty and sustainability.
