Artists from the Hermanos Saíz Association (AHS) and residents of the Guantanamo City today remember young people of the July 26 insurgent movement, who died in the explosion of a handmade bomb factory on August 4, 1957.
The events occurred downtown, presumably due to errors in the handling of the explosives, which caused the death of the young men from Guantanamo Enrique Rodríguez, Fabio Rosell and Abelardo Cuza.
In the hours following the tragedy, two other members of that clandestine insurgent group were persecuted and killed by hitmen of the dictator Fulgencio Batista (1952-1958): Jesús Martín (Holguín, north of Oriente) and Gustavo Fraga, (Matanzas, in West).
