Guantanamo.- This October 20th, Guantanamo people proudly celebrate the Cuban Culture Day, a day that calls to reflect on the roots and traditions of  the homeland, commemorating the 157th anniversary of the Bayamo Anthem, composed by the patriot Perucho Figueredo.

It is a moment to reflect on the richness and diversity of our national identity and marks a special moment to pay tribute to the traditions, arts and expressions that have forged our history and the Cuban cultural heritage, which contains the influence and syncretism of a whole cultural bitterness that gave birth to the Cuban nation.

From early in the morning, pioneers and young people, together with the people of Guantanamo and all of Cuba, fervently sang the notes of  the National Anthem in the central José Martí Park, before the seated figure of the Apostle of Cuban Independence, the bond with the man who understood that “being cultured is the only way to be free” is renewed.
