Guantanamo.-Residents of Guantánamo have expressed their appreciation for the global support in Cuba’s fight against the blockade. The Cuban government recognizes this international solidarity, which has resulted in the passage of a resolution advocating for the end of the blockade for the thirty-fourth time, garnering 130 votes in favor, 17 against, and 25 abstentions.

In spite of the misinformation and pressure exerted by the U.S. government, the multilateral forum provided an opportunity to condemn the extraterritorial implications of this oppressive blockade, which undermines trade freedom, violates international law, and infringes upon the self-determination rights of a sovereign nation.

Following the vote on October 28 at the United Nations General Assembly, residents of Guantánamo have shared their perspectives, as reported by journalist Ventura Figueras Lores.
